Bald, and a woman? Novuhair is The Solution

Women suffering from excessive hair loss need not dread their problem as they used to. With the latest personal experience of make-up artist to the stars Fanny Serrano, growing bald already comes with its own solution. Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion is Fanny’s new champion in combatting hair loss. His own testimony backs up the claim that Novuhair is the only one that truly works: suffering from hair loss at the peak of his career, the beauty icon decided to find a way to keep his hair on, or to keep them from falling out. But all claims of hair growth that he bought into, from those of topical ointments to ingestive supplements, proved false and ineffective. All, that is, but Novuhair. With Novuhair, Fanny experienced a resurge in his scalp’s hair growth from only two weeks of use. Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion is made of ingredients based in nature, such as panax ginseng, moringa oleifera, and the essence of lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, rosemary, and virgin coconut. It works by improving blood circulation to the scalp and increasing nutrition to hair follicles, ultimately resulting in a growth spurt of hair. Now baldness and excessive hair loss in women is caused by a number of different factors, ranging from hereditary factors to lifestyle. But with Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion, the causes become secondary. You now have what’s important: the solution. Novuhair is available at all Mercury Drug, Watson's, Rose Pharmacy, South Star, Manson, NCCC (Davao and Palawan) and Cory Quirino World of Wellness Stores nationwide, and online on www.regaloservice.com. Call 413-6570or 0922-883-0575 and visit www.novuhair.com for more details.

Riverside - One (1992)

Riverside's One is one of the prettiest albums of the early ‘90s. Considering that it was released during the peak of the grunge revolution, its lack of commercial success was inevitable. There is no screaming nor feedback-drenched guitars on One; the members of Riverside didn't sport long hair or goatees, and they probably never wore flannel. Strip away the CD's copyright date and it could easily be mistaken for a 1988 release. There's nothing wrong with that. One is suspended by shimmering guitars a la the Wild Swans and the Ocean Blue. (Since One was produced by former Ocean Blue keyboardist Steve Lau, perhaps the latter comparison should be no surprise.) Songs seem to float into one another; after a few tracks, the album begins to feel like one lengthy song. While the band seems to mine the same ethereal riffs in every track, the boyish innocence in the vocals and lyrics and the luminous beauty of the music are undeniably relaxing. The ringing guitars in "Waterfall," "General Nature," and "James" cast a hypnotic spell. The bouncy percussion of "Cinnamon Eyes" and the pulsating bass of "James" add character to Riverside's relentlessly atmospheric textures. Riverside expose their late-‘80s new wave influences so blatantly that it sounds like the group is paying homage to them; fans of the Wild Swans, the Ocean Blue, the Church, U2, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the Railway Children will be hooked. The Stone Roses - The Collectors Edition Box Set (2009)

The Stone Roses is the debut album by English rock band The Stone Roses, released on Silvertone Records in 1989. It cemented the band's reputation among critics, and is still rated by some as one of the most influential albums. In 2004 an Observer Music Monthly poll consisting of musicians and critics voted the album the greatest of all time, as did the writers of NME in 2006, declaring it to be the greatest British album of all time. It is widely considered as the seminal record of the Madchester movement that was active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and as being highly responsible for the mid 1990s resurrection of British guitar music that came to be known as Britpop.

The album was first released in the UK in the first half of 1989, and in the US on 25 July 1989. In 1999, on the 10th anniversary of its release, a two-disc special edition re-release of The Stone Roses reached #9 on the UK albums chart. In 2009, the remastered 20th anniversary edition was released in several formats: the standard 11-track album (with the bonus track "Fools Gold") on CD and 12" vinyl LP (the LP version includes a bonus one-sided 7" single featuring the unreleased demo track "Pearl Bastard"); a deluxe edition 2CD/1DVD set, featuring the album on disc one, a 15-track collection of unreleased demos titled The Lost Demos on disc two, and a DVD featuring a 1989 live performance titled Live in Blackpool; and a 3CD/3LP/1DVD collector's edition box set, which features:
- The remastered 11-track album on one CD and one LP
- The Lost Demos on one CD
- The B-sides on one CD
- Two LPs
- Live in Blackpool DVD
- A 48-page booklet, containing unseen photos and new interviews

The The - 45 RPM: The Singles of The The (2002)

45 RPM is a collection of songs by The The. 45 RPM was released in 2002. All the songs were 24 bit digitally remastered to, as the slipcase tells us, "reveal the full richness and complexity of the original recordings". The album was also released as a limited hardback 2 CD set. The second CD contains eight extended remixes.

Like Steely Dan, The The wasn't so much a band as a personal musical conceit/alter ego, this one for English writer-performer Matt Johnson. While Johnson's "band" came of age during the English synth pop boom of the early ‘80s, electricity was about the only common denominator between Johnson and his fashion slave contemporaries. Indeed, the sense of conscientious outrage that informs many of the two decades worth of singles collected here fostered a perception of Johnson as something of a prickly malcontent. But fashion was never an end in itself for Johnson, even on early pop fare like "Uncertain Smile" and "Perfect." Johnson's restless creative bent has led him to remix many of these tracks anew, ensuring that this set would never be seen as mere artistic obituary. Johnson's reputation as a socio-political crank reached its zenith on tracks like "Heartland" (which decries the reverse cultural colonization of Britain by America) and "Armageddon Days" (a shotgun blast at pan-religious hypocrisy, here introduced by a hilarious parody of the Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz": "Are you ready Jesus? Yeah! / Budda? Uh-huh."), but subsequent history has only proven him sagacious. Pity that Johnson's "Armageddon" lineup was short-lived: The The was a real band in ‘89, with Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr adding his signature sound to "The Beat(en) Generation" as well. And if anyone thought they had Johnson pegged, his acclaimed 1995 Hank Williams tribute, Hanky Panky (represented here by a riveting reinvention of the country legend's "I Saw the Light"), surely set them scratching their heads again. The set is rounded out by three strong new tracks ("Decembersunlight (Cried Out)," a duet with Liz Horsman; "Pillar Box Red"; and "Deep Down Truth," a duet with Wild Colonial Angela McCluskey). The limited-edition two-disc set also includes a bonus disc of eight 12" club mixes previously unreleased in the U.S. on CD. -- Jerry McCulley

VA - Going Underground (2011)

Going Underground 2011
Between 1977 and 1981 a myriad of influences, fashions and styles collided to make a heady musical brew that hasn’t been equaled since. In the wake of Punk's brief flare-up there emerged a dazzling band of diverse talents who came to be known under the umbrella term New Wave. 'Going Underground' is a 66-track, 3CD set that sets out to tell the story of those exciting, experimental days. From the UK, explosive newcomers like The Jam, Elvis Costello and Siouxsie & The Banshees took on our domestic singles charts and won, with hit after landmark hit. From the USA, The Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie and The Pretenders gave them all a run for their money. Meanwhile burgeoning future legends like The Cure, Ian Dury and Bob Geldof's Boomtown Rats rubbed shoulders with crazily inventive one-offs like The Flying Lizards, Lene Lovich, Jilted John and Belgium’s Plastic Bertrand. The musical styles embraced by the New Wave might have ranged from ska (The Specials, The Selecter) to R&B (Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Dr Feelgood) to electronica (Joy Divison, The Human League) to thrashy garage rock (The Skids, The Buzzcocks) but one thread connected them all: this was about as perfect as pop music gets. Strangely, every single one of these 66 smashes sounds as fresh today as the day it was recorded. Viva Le New Wave! Review

The Bluebells - Sisters (1984) | Second (1992)

The Bluebells were a Scottish pop group in the 1980s. They performed jangly guitar based pop not dissimilar to their Scottish contemporaries Aztec Camera and Orange Juice. They had three Top 40 hit singles in the UK, all written by guitarist and founder member Bobby Bluebell (real name Robert Hodgens) - "I'm Falling" , "Cath" , and their biggest success "Young at Heart". The latter was co-written with Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama (and originally recorded on Bananarama's album Deep Sea Skiving) and made it to number 8 in the UK Singles Chart on its original release in 1984. The band also released one EP, The Bluebells, and one full-length album, Sisters.

The band split up in the mid 1980s, but enjoyed an unexpected revival in 1993 when "Young At Heart" was used in a Volkswagen television advertisement. Re-issued as a single, it was number one for four weeks and led to the band reforming temporarily to perform the song on BBC Television's Top of the Pops. A compilation album followed, The Singles Collection, which peaked at #27 in the UK Albums Chart in April 1993.

The band reformed in late 2008, with original members the McCluskey brothers and Bobby Bluebell, to support Edwyn Collins at a show in Glasgow on 23 January 2009.

forever yours, forever mine

time will tell, how far we'll go
what roads we'll take, whose heart we'll break

when we were young, oh hoh so young
we had such dreams, that i could be

forever yours, forever mine
forever yours, forever mine

and ever mine
forever yours, forever mine
forever, forevermore
forever, forevermore
forever, (and ever) forevermore

Truths and Untruths Behind Hair Fall

Aside from old age, what’s one thing we enjoy noticing in others but wholly deny when it happens to ourselves? Old age’s sister: hair loss. That’s right: that patch of space somewhere on your scalp, usually characterized by an unwelcome sheen and the threat of more of it to come.

Translator - The Collection (2007)

Translator is a San Francisco rock band that had success during the 1980s. They created a sound that spanned updated British Merseybeat and stripped-down punk-like rock to psychedelia. Inspired by the Beatles and 1960s California folk-rock bands such as The Byrds, their guitar-based music was very popular during the early 1980s on non-commercial campus radio and new wave music stations. But unlike similar groups including R.E.M., Translator did not get much exposure on mainstream classic rock radio. The group's stripped-down music and sometimes ironic and disturbing existentialist lyrics also helped to make them a significant influence on the alternative rock of the 1990s.

Translator continues to reunite on occasion, including the South By Southwest festival in Austin in 2006, and shows in Los Angeles and a sold out date at Slim's in San Francisco in September 2009. The band is still releasing music, including a planned record of previously unreleased fully produced songs from 1993. Barton works as a solo recording artist. His brand new 2011 album is titled "Projector". It was produced by Marvin Etzioni from Lone Justice and was recorded and mixed on tape. Steve plays all the instruments on this one. The album is made up of songs written in the aftermath of Steve's dad's passing in 2009. In 2010 he released a 20-song CD titled "Gallery" featuring tracks from his three solo albums, plus four brand new songs with his solo band, Steve Barton And The Oblivion Click (Steve Barton, Robbie Rist, Derrick Anderson). Scheff has continued drumming, most recently with the orchestra at Teatro ZinZanni, on a 2008 summer UK tour with Dead Kennedys and, with Larry Dekker, guitarist Peter Wiley and keyboardist and singer Cynthia Haagens in Bang Bang Men. Robert Darlington published a collection of his poetry titled "Ether". Larry Dekker continues to supply his powerful melodic bass playing for various bands.
